Lisette Gebhardt studied Japanese literature and culture at the universities of Munich and Trier and of the Sophia University, Tôkyô. Since 2003 she has been a professor of Japanese Literature and Culture at the Goethe University Frankfurt. She is the translator of Uchida Hyakken’s Meido and of Gen’yû Sôkyû’s Aburakusasu no matsuri into German. Gebhardt organizes regular seminars on the translation of Japanese literature.
