Jeffrey Hunter
 
Jeffrey Hunter received his doctorate in Buddhist Studies, with a minor in Japanese literature, from the University of Wisconsin, after pursuing graduate studies at the University of Tokyo. He has worked as a translator and editor for 25 years, specializing in religion, philosophy, art, architecture, and both modern and Edo-period literature. Among his translations are Snow Country Tales (Hokuetsu Seppu) by Bokushi Suzuki, Ando Shoeki: Collected Writings, Tariki: Embracing Despair, Discovering Peace by Hiroyuki Itsuki, short stories by Kyoji Kobayashi and Yoshinori Shimizu, and most recently, Tokyo Seven Roses by Hisashi Inoue.
