Jutta Vogt is a freelance and award-winning translator specializing in modern and contemporary Japanese literature. She was born in Düsseldorf in 1969 and received a degree from the University of Bonn in 1998. She taught German language and translation at Niigata University from 1999 to 2002. She participated in the 3rd Shizuoka International Translation Competition, winning the Distinctive Merit Award for translation from Japanese to German. She currently lives in Sheffield, UK, working as a freelance translator. She has translated into German Sachio Ito's The House of My Sitter.
