JLPP（Japanese Literature Publishing Project）とは

現代日本文学の翻訳・普及事業（Japanese Literature Publishing Project）は、日本国文化庁が、現代日本文学の魅力を海外へ発信・普及するために、2002年に立ち上げたプロジェクトです。

現在、現代日本文学の優れた翻訳家の発掘・育成を目的とした「JLPP翻訳コンクール」および「JLPPシンポジウム」を中心に活動を進めています。

2010 年に第１回JLPP翻訳コンクール（対象言語／英語、独語）がスタートし、第7回（対象言語／英語、仏語）を2022年に、第8回（対象言語／英語）を2023年に開催しています。

さらに、世界各国の文芸翻訳家や日本文学研究者、作家、海外出版社編集者を招聘してシンポジウムやフォーラムを同時開催し、現代日本文学のネットワーク構築にも力を入れています。

About the JLPP

The Japanese Literature Publishing Project (JLPP) was founded in 2002 by the Japanese Agency for Cultural Affairs, in order to promote awareness and appreciation of contemporary Japanese literature.

Today, the project’s core focuses are the JLPP International Translation Competition and the JLPP Symposium, both geared toward discovering and fostering emerging translators of contemporary Japanese literature.

The first JLPP International Translation Competition was launched in 2010 (target languages: English and German), leading to the 7th Competition held in 2022 in English and French. The 8th Competition is underway in 2023 in English.

Further, in an effort to create a network around contemporary Japanese literature, the JLPP hosts international translation symposiums and forums, where authors, translators, editors, and scholars of Japanese literature from around the world exchange ideas and discuss their work.
