To commemorate the 4th JLPP International Translation Competition for English and Russian translators,
we will shed light on the forefront of Japanese literature in translation.

Part 1: Award Ceremony for the six prize winners of English and Russian translators of the 4th JLPP International Translation Competition.

Part 2: Observations and Discussion by the Judging Committee of the 4th JLPP International Translation Competition.
The judging committee members, who are among the most active literary scholars and translators,
will discuss the wealth and theories of literary translation.

We are happy to announce that a new literary symposium, BUNGAKU IMPACT, is now launched. We hold the symposium on a regular
and continuous basis in order to create a worldwide platform where Japanese and overseas writers, editors, scholars, translators,
journalists, and the like, exchange ideas on literature and directly meet with each other.

Banana Yoshimoto and Sayaka Murata emerged as an internationally acclaimed author in 1988 and 2016 respectively. We visually
show how “Kitchen” by Banana Yoshimoto and “Convenience Store Woman” by Sayaka Murata have been globally published.
