Isolde Asai, born in 1957, graduated from the Freiburg University of Education and came to Japan in 1981. She worked for 25 years teaching at the Japanese universities, and had professional experience as a translator and interpreter for 20 years. She was a member of Oriental Institute Committee, German Literature Promotion Committee, and German Translation Association. She received JaDe Prize in 2009.
