Verena Werner, who stayed in Japan for 14 years, studied at Kobe University. After returning to Switzerland, she received her MA in Japanology, German Studies and Sinology. Since 2001, she has worked as research fellow and part-time instructor at the University of Zurich, and in 2003 she received her PhD at the university. Her translation works are titles of Mieko Kanai, Kenzaburo Oe, and Tsutomu Minakami.
