Mitsuyo Kakuta
 
Mitsuyo Kakuta (1967-) was born in Yokohama, Kanagawa. After graduating from the School of Letters, Waseda University, she made her debut in 1990 with Kofuku na Yugi (Blissful Play), which she won the 9th Kaien Newcomer Writers Prize. Since then she won several literary awards, such as Noma Literary Prize, Tsubota Joji Literary Prize, and Naoki Prize. Several novels of hers have been made into film.
