Eiki Matayoshi (1947-) was born in Okinawa. He studied at University of the Ryuksyus. In 1975, he was nominated for New Okinawa Literary Prize, for Umi wa Aoku (The Sea is Blue). In 1995, he won the Akutagawa Prize, for Buta no Mukui (The Pig's Revenge).
