After graduating from the Faculty of Business Administration of Hosei University, Shuichi Yoshida(1968-) won the 84th Bungakukai Prize for New Writers in 1997 for Saigo no Musuko (The Last Son), which marked his debut as a novelist. He was also nominated for the 117th Akutagawa Prize for the same novel. Yoshida has acute antennae spread out in the modern society to look at the young people living in the city with author's eyes. His novel, Paredo (Parade), a story about a group of young people, was made into a movie released in February 2010.
